blizzard wow cataclysm
The Worgen are coming. We now know for sure that, come Deathwing’s Cataclysm, The Worgen of Gilneas will be answering the call of the Alliance. The Worgen, while they have quickly become a classic, iconic race in Warcraft lore, actually only came onto the scene in WoW itself, providing an enemy to Horde and Alliance alike in Silverpine Forest, Duskwood, and Ashenvale. But who are they, and what bought them to this place where they will become one of the next playable races of the World of Warcraft before other choices?
In the Beginning
To know how this all begins, the first place to look is The Book of Ur. This Book, written by Ur, a Mage of Dalaran, eventually found its way into the personal library of the Archmage Arugal. It describes the origin of the Worgen. The Worgen, Ur reports, are from another dimension. They are savage, beastly race who leave “terror and bloodshed” in their wake. They are also reported to be powerful mages in their own right, who use dark shadow magics. Luckily, they seem content to stay in their own world, and have not tried to invade others, for such, Ur insists, would be a catastrophe.
How then, did they get to our world? For the answer to that question,

You might remember that, a while back, we got two quests that introduced three of Cataclysm's new race-class combinations -- tauren priests, tauren paladins, and night elf mages. Tauren paladins even got their own flavor name: Sunwalkers. Seems like things were really rolling along at full steam to integrate these new combos into the game seamlessly.

The weird part is that we haven't heard anything else about the subject for ... quite a while now, actually. Kisirani hasn't made any posts about the new combos since her comment about Sunwalkers, and we haven't seen any new quests or in-game events that acted as introductions, either. This makes me a little worried. Was this plan abandoned?

I'm trying not to be too hasty. We won't be able to play them before Cataclysm anyway, so some of the new combos may be introduced over time via the long pre-Cataclysm world event. especially those that require explanation no matter what. Case in point: I couldn't see them adding dwarf shaman without tying in the Wildhammer clan somehow (Zarhym just popped up today saying that the Alliance would be supporting the Wildhammers in one of Cataclysm's new battlegrounds, so that must mean something).

But what about the other poor slobs, the combinations that just "kind of make sense" at first glance? Are they doomed to just show up and act as if they were always there? No, Archdruid Tuj'uku, you were not always a member of the Cenarion Circle. And you, Archmage Skullmaul over there. Are you digging through my trash? I'm calling the cops. Continue reading →

If you’ve been following along with the recent news in the WoW stratosphere, you know that patch 3.3.5 is currently being tested on the PTR. Included in this patch is the new Ruby Sanctum raid dungeon, which is very likely to be the last raid that we’ll see this side of the Cataclysm. While I think it will be more of a Sartharion-like raid and less of an actual progression instance, the fact is that after Halion and company go down, Deathwing’s emergence will be soon to follow.
I talked last week about how the various trade skills can enhance your rogue in a multitude of ways. While these are certainly some of the more tangible benefits you can receive by working on your character’s progression, there are several other ways to make your rogue all it can be. With Icecrown Citadel on farm status for many guilds, you might have some free time to start rounding out your rogue for Cataclysm’s imminent release. Read on for a few pointers on how to get yourself into top shape for the upcoming expansion.
Lockpicking
My first suggestion is something very close to my heart: every rogue should have his lockpicking capped out. Right now, that means your LP should be level 400. Blizzard realized how hard it was to level lockpicking back in

Those tables and that lawn are the favorite Alliance roleplay haunts on one of my servers, and you can usually find at least a half-dozen roleplayers seeking out people of like mind. In fact, a few of my all-time favorite stories came out of the beer garden. Good times have been had there.
On this particular night, I hung out there for about two hours, and I never did see anyone else come through. It was a ghost town. Now, of course there are always busy nights and slow nights, so I hoped that it was just a slow night. But as the moments kept slipping through the hourglass, I got more and more concerned. Eventually, I hit the portals and shot off to Stormwind. You could always rely on someone hanging around Stormwind park, chilling at the pond or one of the many bars there. But, on this night, nothing. Not a soul was around. I’m pretty sure even rerolling a female nelf and hitting the mailboxes wouldn’t have produced any roleplayers.
I have been able to catch a little RP here and there recently, but there’s

What we’ve not heard about yet, though, are professions and crafting. We know the Path of the Titans is lurking around the corner of Cataclysm either like a mugger hiding out in the shadows or a shiny present waiting under the tree. We can guess that professions might play into that to some degree, but it would still be guessing.
Still, while the expansion is still many moons away, now’s the time to start crossing our fingers and hoping for the very best. Here’s a small list of things that were awesome in Wrath of the Lich King and should continue forward in Cataclysm.
1. Another version of the Mechano-Hog
If there was one thing that helped define engineering in Wrath of the Lich King, it was the Horde and Alliance Mechano-hog. There was no other mount (except maybe the star pony) that carried so much raw style, badassery and general awesomeness as the choppers. The hogs were
