How to set up and use the Belkin Nostromo N52
by Mike Schramm
Nov 6th, 2008
Our good friend Phaelia from Resto4Life (who, I’ll have you know, will be live on our podcast this week — more info tomorrow) has an extremely in-depth guide to setting up and using one of the most popular controllers for World of Warcraft, the Belkin Nostromo keypad. Some people swear by the G15 or the Zboard, I personally like to keep things vanilla with just an Apple Keyboard and a gaming mouse, but whenever you ask WoW players what they use, it seems like the Nostromo always comes up.
And Phaelia’s got it down — from setting up button mods (she’s using Bartender, one of Adam’s essential addons for 3.0.3) to configuring the keyboard itself and even putting in macros for all three Druid forms, if you’ve ever wanted to use the Nostromo,
WoW Akin to Heroin Addiction
According to British child psychologist Tanya Byron, love for World of Warcraft has some unfavorable comparisons to addiction to heroin.
Am I Normal?, screened at 9pm on BBC 2 last night, investigated the subject of video games addiction – even going so far as comparing an ‘obsession’ with interactive entertainment with a reliance on cocaine or heroin.
Byron introduced the section on games addiction by narrating:
“Most of us think of games as the preserve of the teenager; young people escaping into a virtual world of fantasy. It’s an attractive but artificial world where they can give themselves a new identity and a status and power unobtainable in reality.”
She spoke to World Of Warcraft ‘addict’ Michelle Hart, 39. Hart said she had been playing the game for two years and spends much of
A Simple Re-Quest bugged
I know you’ll never believe this, but Blizzard has identified a bug in tracking one of the achievements. On the Achievements forum Tigole noted that zoning into a battleground will sometimes cause the counter to reset for “A Simple Re-Quest.” For this achievement you must complete five dailies in a row. The known issue will be fixed in the upcoming patch 3.0.3 but Tigole recommends that if you are keen on earning this achievement in the meantime you may want to avoid entering the battlegrounds.
It will be easy to complete 5 dailies after the patch, so it’s not a huge deal. I am concerned that Blizzard isn’t getting to the heart of the bug, though. There seems to be more to it than battlegrounds. Though I haven’t done any battlegrounds since the patch was released and have completed several dailies each
Are we going to kill all of the aspects
Alexstrasza – because she has loot. Seriously do you need a lore reason, or are you convinced only to fight evil?
I think they are saving the aspects because they are quickly running out of lore. If the cap is now 80 and KJ, illidan, and Arthas have been bested by players they have to keep something in reserve to be the bad guy at L90, and at 100.
The only thing that gets me is that with each new expansion not only are there more powerful bosses but inordinately more powerful creeps and quest mobs for the purpose of leveling up. Seriously, how did that Moth get level 72?? Did it defeat thousands of weaker, less aggressive moths?
Anyway the only aspect that i would imagine we’d go after to kill is Deathwing, and even that is tenuous. According to lore, no one actually knows what happens if you kill an
Ashbringer contradictions…
Not sure if this has been posted before, as I only recently entered the beta, but discussion with a friend made a few points pretty clear.
This is what’s in vanilla WoW-
You go to Naxxramas and defeat the Four Horsemen, one of which is Highlord Alexandros Mograine, the original wielder of the Ashbringer. You loot the Corrupted Ashbringer.
The Corrupted Ashbringer whispers to whoever is holding it, revealing that the Renault Mograine boss from SM Cathedral betrayed his father [Alexandros]. You bring the Corrupted Ashbringer to SM Cath and it begins a scripted event. Friendly Alexandros Mograine shows up and messes up Renault.
High Inquisitor Fairbanks, the hidden boss in Cath, says that the Corrupted Ashbringer is beyond repair. He tells you to go to Outland and find the other son of Mograine to forge a new
Thurs August 21 7:30PM
I will be running a PUG Hyjal, people permitting, on thursday August 22th at 7:30PM EST on NORTHREND (pve).
I prefer level 72+ folk (primarily because I believe it takes at least 2 levels to determine a decent spec and obtain greens/blues from questing/instances that compare to t4/t5), with exception of those who already have experience with hyjal (extensive and gear to prove it), in which case 70+ is fine.
I am also looking for 1-2 people who would be willing to help coordinate and run the thing. I have (sadly) tons of experience running Hyjal, but with 1-2 other experienced leaders it will make handling PUGs easier.
Loot will be rolled on — I am going on my DK and would love special consideration for a cat’s edge, but will leave that up to the group to decide if and when we kill the retard-check Archimonde (no
